About Erdeven Surf Spots
Our campsite, nestling in an exceptionally beautiful natural setting, is the ideal place for winter sports enthusiasts of all levels.
Spotlight for all levels
Just 3.7 km (about 10 minutes by bike) from the splendid plage de Kerhillio, this site boasts stunning scenery and is popular with sports enthusiasts.
Just 6km away (about 20 minutes by bike), you’ll find La plage de la Roche Sèche, one of Erdeven’s most popular destinations. Renowned for its safety, it attracts a host of water sports enthusiasts of all abilities.
Finally, just 8.4km away (12 minutes by car), La plage du Mané Gwen à Plouharnel is a paradise for surfers of all levels. With an area dedicated to kitesurfing, this spot offers ideal conditions for an unforgettable surfing or kitesurfing experience.
Spot for experienced surfers
For experienced surfers, La plage de la Barre d’Etel, around 13km away (20 minutes by car), is a must. This spot, recognised as one of the best in Morbihan, offers challenges suited to the most experienced surfers.
Experienced surfers will also appreciate the Men Du beach at La Trinité-sur-Mer and the Port Bara beach on the west coast of the Quiberon peninsula. These spots, 11.1 km and 17 km respectively from our campsite (17 and 20 minutes by car), are renowned for their technical conditions, with powerful waves at the Port Bara beach. However, you are advised to be careful of the rocks.
Finally, 15 km away (20 minutes by car), the beach at Port Blanc stands out for its fast waves and long swells, particularly during low and high tides, offering unique sensations for surfers.

FAQ about Surfing in Erdeven
Where can beginners start surfing?
Surfing beginners can start surfing on different beaches such as the Mané Gwen beach which is suitable for all levels or the Kerillho beach which is also suitable for all levels. And last but not least, the Plage de la Roche Secche is one of Erdeven’s best-known beaches, and its safety attracts surfers of all abilities.
On which beaches can experienced surfers surf?
Experienced surfers can force themselves onto any beach but will enjoy certain beaches more, such as the beach at Port Bara, which is a fairly technical surf spot. There is also the beach at Men Du in La Trinité sur Mer. Finally, the Barre d’Etel beach is a surf spot for experienced surfers.
Are there any surf clubs near the campsite where you can learn to surf?
Yes, there are several, including the Dune de Surf school in Erdeven, close to the Quiberon peninsula, which is open all year round and is about 10 minutes by bike from the campsite. Or the Plouharnel surf school, which isn’t very far either.
At what age can you start learning to surf
In some water sports clubs, children as young as 5 can learn to ride the waves with or without equipment. They develop this approach so that they feel at ease in the water before sliding onto a suitable board. But from the age of 9 you can really learn to surf, thanks to lessons based on respect for others, the rules of surfing and the environment. Sessions last around 2 hours.
When can you surf in Morbihan?
Ideal from April to September, this surfing destination offers ideal conditions for beginners and experienced surfers alike. However, it’s important to be aware of the strong currents and to surf at low or ebbing tide to avoid the risks.
